A couple of guys from work say bird numbers are still strong in South Dakota but the lodging prices are going up and I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth paying more instead of heading somewhere quieter.

Yeah, it’s still worth the haul. The bird numbers and wide-open fields make it hard to beat. Just book early and split lodging with a buddy to keep it reasonable.

Black hills and pheasant hunting- always worth it!
Lodging up everywhere so head on over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last season, folks harvested over 1.3 million roosters, which is the most we've seen in 13 years. Thing is, we got plenty of birds, so yeah, it's a good time to get out there. You'll have better luck here than anywhere else, trust me

South Dakota's Apocalypse is a bird hotspot. If it's too pricey, check local fields, pheasant numbers are up. Just be aware public land might be limited, so scout around.

Pheasant hunting was awesome in the 40s and 50s. The numbers are good now, but not like they used to be, who agrees with me?
