First day of fishing. Was going the easy route, Canyon Lake in Rapid City. I have never fly-fished using midges before but I decided to try one out because of the cold weather (30° is cold to me for fly fishing). It was a good day of catch and release for rainbows.

 Sounds like you had a pretty good day to me. Whether it's cold or not, just getting out there and learning something new always seems to pay off.
