I've been using Federal HST for my EDC and really like the performance, especially in terms of expansion and reliability. What are your go-to 9mm rounds for self-defense, and how have they treated you in real scenarios?

It is difficult to beat the 124gr Speer Gold Dot. Federal HST is good too. Ultimately, you're splitting hairs.

FWIW... I carry the 124gr Gold Dot. Multiple LE agencies in SD carry that exact load or the 147gr HST. You really can't go wrong with a good name brand HP self defense load.

I like the FMT (fluid monolithic transfer) ammonia like Underwood Xtreme Penetrator and Black Hills Honey Badger. I don’t currently have any in 9mm but Honey Badger is what I use in my Glock 32 .380.

I carry HST, Gold Dot or Honey Badger. The only reason I carry Honey Badger though is because I am issued it. Free is free;).
I’ve gone to the Honey Badger in my .380. I have a box of the Underwood Xtreme Penetrator that I will carry in my .40 S&W. I will probably carry Honey Badger ammo when I finally settle on a 9mm carry pistol.

I guess I should add them, when I carry a .380 (LCP Max), I load it with Hornady Critical Defense rounds. This is a new addition though. After I get qualified to use it as a BUG I will have .380 Honey Badger.
