I am training my dog for South Dakota upland birds and it's humbling. She retrieved my boot yesterday instead of the training dummy, I am pretty sure she's just messing with me at this point...any advice?

Oh, she's definitely messing with ya...don't rush the big stuff, just get back to the absolute basics of 'here' and 'fetch' drills. You can make it a game, keep it fun, and always end on a win...you gotta be more stubborn than she is

Sounds like she’s got personality @Regan . Keep sessions short and fun, mix in real feathers, and praise the heck outta her when she gets it right. Patience and consistency go a long way with bird dogs.

You’re probably right, she’s got some attitude. I’ll dial it back to basics and keep it fun like you said

She’s definitely full of personality, that’s for sure. I’ll try mixing in feathers and shorter sessions, sounds like good advice. Thanks for the encouragement
