Hey everyone, I figured it’d be helpful to get a thread going about our favorite (or least favorite) gun shops around South Dakota. What makes a gun shop trustworthy for you? I’ve had some great experiences and a couple of not-so-great ones, and I think it’s important to share those stories.

If you’ve found a shop that’s got a solid selection of used guns or reasonable prices, let us know! And if you’ve run into high transfer fees or bad customer service, that’s worth mentioning too.

Let’s help each other find reliable places to buy and service our firearms. Looking forward to hearing your recommendations — include your location so others can find them easier!

Garys to the east and First Stop to the west.
I dont travel as much as I used to so no longer frequent the Mitchell, Watertown, Aberdeen haunts but there are good ones in each!!!!

I've had mixed luck with shops around here. The good ones treat you fair, don't gouge on transfers, and actually listen. I stick with places that keep good used selections and straightforward service

First Stop Gun & Coin has been great to me, I bought a used Remington and a Ruger there, both clean deals.

I had the opposite experience at Gary’s, their prices seemed high and the guy at the counter wasn’t friendly, maybe I caught him on a bad day

I’ve heard same comments in the past. All I can say is after 25 years of doing business there I have few complaints. Bought, sold, traded with them and gun smith is gold!
